about

Hanging out with a good friend who was house-sitting, we were perusing a D.H Lawrence poetry collection. I was dismissing it all as fluffy upper-class poetry and then we happened across this poem Trust. It blew me away. And it felt so song like and lyrical. So that will teach me to judge people before knowing their work. The words have been adapted slightly. I think it is safe copyright wise as it’s over 50 years old. Back to my electronic roots sonically.

Found sounds featured: 2 squash balls for a kick drum & pepper grinder as a shaker.

lyrics

We’ve got to trust
one another again
in some essentials
at least
we’ve got to trust.

A bigger trust,
a trust of the sun
that does not bother
with moth and rust,
bigger trust
So much bigger
We see it shining
in one another.

If it warms
your heart’s quick core
why then trust it, it forms
one faithfulness more.

And be, oh be
a sun to me,
not a weary, insistent
personality

And I’ll be, oh be
a sun to you,
not a weary, insistent
personality

A sun that shines
goes dark, but shines
again and entwines
with the sunshine in me
We see it shining in one another..
